Riddwood have been engaged by Chelsea Football Club for over 25 years and last year we were appointed to provide the structural design and staging methodology for the installation of two new large screens suspended from the roof structure which included the upgrading of the existing steel trussed roof framing. Riddwood’s design streamlined future maintenance capabilities and required the alignment of varied existing structure with new fixings required. The larger screens required heavier gravity loads and higher wind loads to be accounted for while installation challenges included the lifting cranes operating on sloped ground.

Riddwood have been appointed by the Client and land-owner, Intersurgical, to assist with the structural design and construction of various structures on their UK premises. Riddwood has overseen the construction of a new 1,100 sqm office and warehouse facility from the nomination of tenderers through to the project completion. In addition, Riddwood has undertaken the structural design of new steel portal frame warehouses, and of major internal alterations of existing buildings owned by the Client, which have formed part of the Client’s significant growth over the last years.

From the design of a 22,000 sq ft five storey office accommodation in the UK, to the design of a 200,000 sq ft training complex in Baghdad; from reinforced concrete frame, to steel frame, and even laminated timber beams, Riddwood have helped to design large scale commercial space solutions. The Riddwood team of consulting engineers have been involved in some of the largest multi-storey car parks. Over 3,000 car spaces at Thurrock Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex in the UK were designed using a hybrid system of pre-cast and cast in concrete structures.
